Tricky trend? Nahh. With Les Rebelles Squad and LILMISSBIANCA, I attempted the unlikely color combination ubiquitous in every trend report this season.

PINK + YELLOW: a cheerful color combination I've always been fond of since I was about four despite its not-so-subtle dissonance — and a pairing that can be intimidating to wear. Misgivings include: a.) the possibility of looking ridiculously un-put together; and b.) potentially getting grimaces of wry amusement due to the former.

For this blog post, my constant partner-in-crime Bianca (from LILMISSBIANCA), Pooja (one-half of Les Rebelles Squad), and I had one goal in mind: to make the clashing hues look effortlessly cool.

At first blush, the P&Y combo felt more suited and appealing to spring than fall, but NYFW pundits such as Delpozo and Creatures of Comfort reimagined the pairing with a modern autumnal feel by the use of sweaters, structured coats, and layering. Our take: it's pastel-on-pastel and soft, feminine details on Bianca (left); Pooja (center) sported the tricky chartreuse against light dusty pink à la Ulla Johnson; while I (right) looked at some '70s hippie inspo, layering a marigold long-back over a bolder shade of pink and a pair of graphic wide-legged trousers.

Energetic, effervescent yellow meets delicate, romantic pink. This modern color combination maybe is a bit unlikely, but if the runways were anything to go by, this fad pretty well works in reality — so fear not.
